Impound Information

Was your vehicle in an accident?

If you have been in an accident and have full coverage insurance, we suggest you put a claim in with them and they should take care of everything. If you have a claim, we recommend that you take any and all belongings out of the vehicle at our yard, if you cannot make it to our yard while it’s here, you may contact your insurance company about how to get the belongings out once it leaves here. We require a “release” to your insurance company which means you must give us permission to let the insurance company take the vehicle from here and we accept both verbal and written releases. We will not let the vehicle leave the yard until we have received the release.

If you have been in an accident and you do not have full coverage insurance, there are a few options you have.

  1. You can have the vehicle towed out to a location of your choosing. You may use our services, or you may also have it towed by yourself or another company. *There will be release fees that are owed at the time of pick up*

  2. If you do not want to take the vehicle, please contact the staff at Brothers Towing and Roadside. You may be able to sign over the title and this will clear any and all associated fees.

Was your vehicle impounded by law enforcement?

If your vehicle was impounded by law enforcement, you MUST HAVE the following documents to drive the vehicle out of our lot:

  1. CURRENT registration and plates

  2. CURRENT insurance (you must have the ID CARD with the vin of the vehicle, we will also take electronic ID cards)

  3. VALID driver’s license (if you do not have a valid driver's license as the registered owner, you still must have a valid picture ID with you and you can have someone with a valid driver’s license come with you to drive it out)

If you do not have current registration or insurance, you can still get the vehicle out by having it TOWED OUT with:

  1. The title to the vehicle

OR

  1. An expired registration of ONE YEAR OR LESS and a Valid driver’s license or ID card

You can have the vehicle towed out to a location of your choosing. You may use our services, or you may also have it towed by yourself or another company.

Was your vehicle stolen and recovered?

If your vehicle was stolen, we do suggest going through insurance if you have the proper coverage. If you do not have insurance, you can contact us to look at your vehicle to see the condition of it and either drive the vehicle out or have it towed. You are still required to show the proper documentation to get a stolen vehicle out of impound which include:

  1. Current registration

  2. Current insurance

  3. Valid driver’s license

  4. Title

*There will be release fees that are owed at the time of pick up*

Is your vehicle on a Law Enforcement Hold?

If you are told your vehicle is on a Police Hold this means the police agency is doing an investigation on it. This means we CANNOT allow access to the vehicle. This means you may not get into the vehicle to get anything out, you cannot go to the vehicle to take pictures and the insurance company is not allowed to their assessment. We will not provide any information, you may call the law enforcement agency that has the hold on it to get more information. We will call you when the hold is released as long as we have contact information.

Is the registered owner of the vehicle unavailable to get the car out?

If the registered owner of the vehicle is unable to physically retrieve the vehicle, they can send someone else to come get the vehicle. This can only be done by:

  1. Giving an appointed person a notarized letter giving us permission to release the vehicle to them.

Example:

I (registered owner) give Brothers Towing and Roadside permission to release my (vehicle information AND vin) to (assigned person)

THIS MUST BE NOTARIZED

   2. Power of attorney

THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE ABOVE RULES. WE MUST HAVE EITHER ONE OF THOSE DOCUMENTS OR THE VEHICLE WILL NOT BE RELEASED
